Last year we got a pair of pregnant mice from free cycle. About 1 week later we discovered that the mother mouse had had her babies. About 5 days later she had another litter. Quickly, we moved the father mouse to a separate cage so the mother would not have another litter. about 3 months latter we gave all but two of our mice to a pet store. When we were cleaning their cage, so we decided to do a different new style every time. I store fun cardboard things for the mice in a large box in the garage. The most important things I have to do is make sure they have food, water and a running wheel. Since the food and the wheel usually get bedding in them, we decided to keep them on top of small cardboard boxes. The water hangs from the top and we need a box or brick under it so the mice can reach it since the cage is so tall. While we're cleaning the cage, I usually have one of my little sisters babysit the mice for me. Usually they hold the mice, but sometimes they make a little 'town' out of the old cardboard things on the table. Once the cage is done getting cleaned and arranged, me and my little sisters watch the mice explore their new environment. Once when we cleaned their cage, we gave them a Strawberry and Cream Instant Oatmeal Box, so we named our two mice Strawberry and Cream. One time when we put them back in, we put Cream up by the food and water, inside a topless box on top of TP tubes, so she couldn't figure out how to get down, after a long while she finally found the paper towel tube tunnel that lead to the ground floor. The mice always seem to have so much fun exploring their new home.
