Sometimes it's hard, both parties feel unloved and disrespected. Times like this it's so easy to bail on the relationship and strike out on your own. But, marriage is a living thing that grows and changes, over time, maybe a long time. Sometimes it's a sweet lovely baby, sometimes an awkward adolescent and sometimes a boring grown up. A good one may not show it's true colors for 30 years or more. Given time and patience and forgiveness and long suffering this relationship can grow into a wise, peaceful elder who has the time and intelligence to really enjoy each other.
Sometimes, the best is yet to come...
To the folks I know who kept it together for 10, 20, 30 or more years, thanks! I've seen beautiful acts of love, patience and forgiveness in each of your marriages and you've been a great encouragement.
P.S. - It's even possible that the unlove and disrespect from your spouse translates into God's best tool for your life....
